Muhammad said: Every detestable thing is called najas. When you mention the term rijs (abomination), you say: it is a filthy abomination.

"So let them not approach the Sacred Mosque after this year of theirs." This is the year in which Abu Bakr performed the Hajj, and in which Ali made the proclamation (al-adhan).

"And if you fear poverty, then Allah will enrich you from His bounty if He wills." The people of Mecca had earnings and livelihood from those who used to perform Hajj among the polytheists. When they were barred from that, it became difficult for them, so Allah informed them that He would compensate them for that.

Muhammad said: Al-aylah means poverty. It is said: 'ala ar-rajulu ya'ilu' when a man becomes poor. From this is the poet's saying:

(The poor man does not know when he will be wealthy... And the wealthy man does not know when he will become poor).
