تفسير القرآن العزيز لابن أبي زمنين
مجلد 2 · صفحة 6٣

الترجمة · EN

"Forbidden to you are carrion, blood, the flesh of swine, and that which has been dedicated to other than Allah," meaning: that which has been slaughtered for other than the name of Allah.

Muhammad said: The root of 'ihlal' (dedicating/raising the voice) is: raising the voice; it is as if the meaning is: that over which other than the name of Allah was mentioned at the time of its slaughter.

"And the strangled (al-munkhaniqah)." Al-Hasan said: It is the one that gets strangled in its rope and dies, and they used to eat it. "And the beaten to death (al-mawquthah)," they used to beat it with a piece of wood until it died, then they would eat it.

Muhammad said: 'Al-waqthah' is the beating. It is said: I struck it, I strike it, a 'waqthan' (beating). There is another dialect for it: 'awqadtuha' (I beat it), 'uqidhuha' (I beat it), 'iqithan' (a beating).
