"Was it a wonder to the people" (posed as an interrogative) "that We revealed to a man from among them, that he should warn the people" of the punishment of Allah (may He be glorified) in this world and the Hereafter, if they do not believe. This is a response from Allah (may He be glorified) to the saying of the polytheists when they said: "Indeed, this is a strange thing," meaning that it is truly a wonder.
"And give glad tidings to those who have believed that they have a station of truth with their Lord," meaning: a righteous deed for which they will be rewarded with Paradise.
