"Indeed, those who do not hope for the meeting with Us," meaning: they do not fear the Resurrection, and they are the polytheists, because they do not acknowledge the Resurrection, "and are satisfied with the life of the world and feel secure therein," as they do not acknowledge the reward of the Hereafter.
﴿إِنَّ الَّذِينَ لَا يَرْجُونَ لِقَاءَنَا﴾ أَيْ: لَا يَخَافُونَ الْبَعْثَ، وَهُمُ الْمُشْرِكُونَ؛ لأَنَّهُمْ لَا يُقِرُّونَ بِالْبَعْثِ ﴿وَرَضُوا بِالْحَيَاةِ الدُّنْيَا وَاطْمَأَنُّوا بِهَا﴾ لَا يقرونَ بِثَوَاب الْآخِرَة.
