"And if Allah were to hasten for the people the evil as He hastens for them the good, their term would have been brought to an end for them." This refers to what a person calls down upon himself, his children, and his wealth. If Allah, Glorified and Majestic is He, were to respond to him, He would have destroyed him.

Muhammad said: It has been said that the meaning is: If Allah were to hasten the evil for people when they call for it against themselves during moments of anger, or against their families and children, and they seek to hasten it just as they seek to hasten the good when they ask Him for it; and this is the meaning of the statement of Yahya.
