"Those who do not expect to meet Us say"—meaning: they do not believe in the Resurrection—"Bring a Quran other than this, or change it"—meaning: or replace a verse of mercy with a verse of punishment, or replace a verse of punishment with a verse of mercy.

Allah (may He be exalted) said to His Prophet (peace be upon him): "Say, 'It is not for me to change it on my own accord'"—meaning: from my own self.
