'And they worship other than Allah that which neither harms them,' if they do not worship it, 'nor benefits them,' if they do worship it. 'And they say, "These are our intercessors with Allah,"' meaning: they claimed that the idols intercede for them with Allah so that He may rectify their livelihoods in this world.
[... of the resurrection] 'Say, "Do you inform Allah of something He does not know in the heavens or on the earth?"' meaning: He does not know [that there is] on the earth a god other than Him. 'Exalted is He,' He declares Himself transcendent, 'and high is He above what they associate [with Him].'
﴿وَيَعْبُدُونَ مِنْ دُونِ اللَّهِ مَا لَا يضرهم﴾ إِنْ لَمْ يَعْبُدُوهُ ﴿وَلا يَنْفَعُهُمْ﴾ إِنْ عَبَدُوهُ ﴿وَيَقُولُونَ هَؤُلاءِ شُفَعَاؤُنَا عِنْد الله﴾ أَيْ: أَنَّ الأَوْثَانَ تَشْفَعُ لَهُمْ - زَعَمُوا - عِنْدَ اللَّهِ؛ لِيُصْلِحَ لَهُمْ مَعَايشهمْ فِي الدُّنْيَا.
(ل ١٣٧) [ … ] بِالْبَعْثِ ﴿قُلْ أَتُنَبِّئُونَ اللَّهَ بِمَا لَا يَعْلَمُ فِي السَّمَوَاتِ وَلا فِي الأَرْض﴾ أَيْ: لَا يَعْلَمُ أَنَّ [ … ] فِي الأَرْض إِلَهًا غَيره ﴿سُبْحَانَهُ﴾ ينزه نَفسه ﴿وَتَعَالَى﴾ مِنَ الْعُلُوِّ ﴿عَمَّا يُشْرِكُونَ﴾.
