"The example of the worldly life is only like water which We have sent down from the sky, so the vegetation of the earth mingled with it." Some of them said: Meaning, the earth brought forth various colors of vegetation. "Until when the earth has taken on its adornment," meaning: its beauty, "and has become beautified," meaning: it adorned itself with its plants, with yellows, greens, and reds.
﴿إِنَّمَا مَثَلُ الْحَيَاةِ الدُّنْيَا كَمَاءٍ أَنْزَلْنَاهُ مِنَ السَّمَاءِ فَاخْتَلَطَ بِهِ نَبَات الأَرْض﴾ قَالَ بَعْضُهُمْ: يَعْنِي: فَأَخْرَجَتِ الأَرْضُ أَلْوَانًا مِنَ النَّبَاتِ ﴿حَتَّى إِذَا أخذت الأَرْض زخرفها﴾ يَعْنِي: حسنها ﴿وازينت﴾ يَعْنِي: تَزَيَّنَتْ بِنَبَاتِهَا مِنْ صُفْرَةٍ وخضرةٍ وحمرةٍ.
