Then He said to the Prophet, peace be upon him: "Say" to them, "Who provides for you from the heaven and the earth?" and it is in the form of an interrogative. "Or who has power over hearing and sight?" Meaning: who takes them away or keeps them. "And who brings the living out of the dead and brings the dead out of the living?" Mujahid said: This means He brings out living humans from sperm-drops, and sperm-drops from living humans; livestock are like that, and vegetation is like that. Al-Hasan said: It means He brings out the believer from the disbeliever, and the disbeliever from the believer. "And who disposes of all affairs?" regarding what He gives life to and what He causes to die, and what He constricts and what He expands. "They will say, 'Allah.' So say, 'Will you not then fear [Him]?'" while you acknowledge Allah, the Exalted, that He is the One who does these things, yet you do not fear Him and you worship these idols besides Him!
ثُمَّ قَالَ لِلنَّبِيِّ ﷺ: (قل) لَهُمْ ﴿مَنْ يَرْزُقُكُمْ مِنَ السَّمَاءِ وَالْأَرْض﴾ وَهُوَ عَلَى الاسْتِفْهَامِ ﴿أَمَّنْ يَمْلِكُ السّمع والأبصار﴾ أَيْ: يُذْهِبُهَا أَوْ يُبْقِيهَا. ﴿وَمَنْ يُخْرِجُ الْحَيَّ مِنَ الْمَيِّتِ وَيُخْرِجُ الْمَيِّت من الْحَيّ﴾ قَالَ مُجَاهِدٌ: يَعْنِي: يُخْرِجُ النَّاسَ الأَحْيَاءَ مِنَ النُّطَفِ، وَالنُّطَفَ مِنَ النَّاسِ الأَحْيَاءِ، وَالأَنْعَامُ مِثْلُ ذَلِكَ، وَالنَّبَاتُ مِثْلُ ذَلِكَ. وَقَالَ الْحَسَنُ: يَعْنِي: يُخْرِجُ الْمُؤْمِنَ مِنَ الْكَافِرِ، وَالْكَافِرَ مِنَ الْمُؤْمِنِ ﴿وَمَنْ يُدَبِّرُ الْأَمر﴾ فِيمَا يُحْيِي وَيُمِيتُ وَيَقْبِضُ وَيَبْسُطُ ﴿فَسَيَقُولُونَ اللَّهُ فَقُلْ أَفَلا تَتَّقُونَ﴾ وَأَنْتُمْ تُقِرُّونَ بِاللَّهِ ﷿ أَنَّهُ هُوَ الَّذِي يَفْعَلُ هَذِهِ الأَشْيَاءَ، ثُمَّ لَا تَتَّقُونَهُ وَتَعْبُدُونَ هَذِه الْأَوْثَان من دونه!
