"O mankind, there has come to you an instruction from your Lord"—meaning: the Qur'an—"and a healing for what is in the breasts"—it removes what is within them of disbelief and hypocrisy—"and a guidance"—by which they are guided to Paradise—"and mercy for the believers." As for the disbelievers, it is a punishment upon them.
﴿يَا أَيهَا النَّاسُ قَدْ جَاءَتْكُمْ مَوْعِظَةٌ مِنْ ربكُم﴾ يَعْنِي: الْقُرْآنَ ﴿وَشِفَاءٌ لِمَا فِي الصُّدُور﴾ يُذْهِبُ مَا فِيهَا مِنَ الْكُفْرِ والنفاق، ﴿وَهدى﴾ يَهْتَدُونَ بِهِ إِلَى الْجَنَّةِ ﴿وَهُدًى وَرَحْمَة للْمُؤْمِنين﴾ فَأَمَّا الْكَافِرُونَ فَإِنَّهُ عَلَيهِمْ عذابٌ.
