"And you are not in any affair" concerning your needs for this world, "nor do you recite from it any Quran"—He addressed the Prophet (PBUH) with this— "nor do you people do any deed"—meaning the general public—"but that We are witnesses over you when you are involved in it." He informs them that He is a witness to their deeds. "And there does not escape from your Lord"—meaning: is not absent from your Lord—"the weight of an atom"—the weight of an atom—"in the earth or in the heaven," such that He would not know it and know its location, "nor less than that nor greater, but that it is in a clear record," manifest before Allah, the Exalted.
