Muhammad said: "Ghummah" is derived from "al-ghamama" (the cloud) which conceals. From this is the saying: "The crescent was obscured (ghumma al-hilal)." It is also permissible that his saying "Ghummah" means distress (ghamman); it is said "gham" and "ghummah."

Al-Khansa' said:

"The son of Amr loosened the choking of one in distress And his distress (ghummatuhu) was removed from his face, so it cleared away."

His saying, the Mighty and Majestic, "Then conclude [your plan] against me," means: exert your full effort, "and do not give me respite" even for the blinking of an eye. This means: that you are not capable of doing so. This was when they said: "If you do not desist, O Noah, you will surely be among those who are stoned."
