"We have certainly taken the covenant of the Children of Israel." The interpretation of the taking of the covenant from them has already passed in Surah Ali 'Imran.

"And We sent to them messengers. Every time a messenger came to them with that which their souls did not desire, a party they denied, and a party they killed." He means by this: their predecessors.
