"[And that you seek forgiveness of your Lord]"—for [your] polytheism.
"[He will provide you a good provision until a specified term]"—meaning: death, and He will not destroy them with torment.
"[And He will give every doer of virtue his virtue]"—similar to His saying: "[And for all there are degrees from what they have done]."
"[But if you turn away]"—from this Qur'an, and deny it—"[then indeed, I fear for you the punishment of a great Day]."
﴿وَأَن اسْتَغْفرُوا ربكُم﴾ مِنَ الشِّرْكِ.
﴿يُمَتِّعْكُمْ مَتَاعًا حَسَنًا إِلَى أجل مُسَمّى﴾ يَعْنِي: الْمَوْتَ، وَلا يَهْلِكَهُمْ بِالْعَذَابِ.
﴿وَيُؤْتِ كُلَّ ذِي فَضْلٍ فَضْلَهُ﴾ كَقَوْلِهِ: ﴿وَلِكُلٍّ دَرَجَاتٌ مِمَّا عَمِلُوا﴾ ﴿وَإِن توَلّوا﴾ عَنْ هَذَا الْقُرْآنِ، فَيُكَذِّبُوا بِهِ ﴿فَإِنِّي أَخَافُ عَلَيْكُمْ عَذَابَ يَوْمٍ كَبِير﴾.
