"Those were not causing failure upon the earth"—meaning: they would not outstrip Us such that We would not resurrect them, then punish them. "And there was not for them from other than Allah any allies"—to prevent them from the punishment of Allah.

"The punishment will be doubled for them" in the Fire. "They were not able to hear"—that is, to hear the guidance; meaning: the hearing of acceptance, since they were in the world. "Nor were they seeing" the guidance.
