"And we do not see that any have followed you except those who are the lowest among us," meaning: our base people, "at first suggestion," meaning: in what appears to us, "and we do not see in you any merit over us" in religion, "rather we think you are liars," meaning: they mean Noah and those who believed with him.
﴿وَمَا نَرَاكَ اتَّبَعَكَ إِلا الَّذِينَ هم أراذلنا﴾ سفلتنا ﴿بَادِي الرَّأْي﴾ أَيْ: فِيمَا يَظْهَرُ لَنَا ﴿وَمَا نَرَى لَكُمْ عَلَيْنَا مِنْ فَضْلٍ﴾ فِي الدِّينِ ﴿بَلْ نَظُنُّكُمْ كَاذِبِينَ﴾ يَعْنُونَ: نَوْحًا وَمَنْ آمَنَ مَعَهُ.
