Abbas said: 'It was revealed on two festivals combined: a Friday, and the Day of Arafah.'
"But if one is forced by severe hunger (makhmasah)," Qatadah said: i.e., by famine; he is returning to the first topic from His saying: "Prohibited to you are dead animals, blood..." until the end of the verse. "Without inclining to sin," meaning: not intending it. Surah Al-Ma'idah from verse (4) to verse (5).
عَبَّاسٍ: فَإِنَّهَا نَزَلَتْ فِي يَوْمِ عِيدَيْنِ اثْنَيْنِ: يَوْمَ جُمُعَةٍ، وَيَوْمَ عَرَفَةَ ".
﴿فَمَنِ اضْطُرَّ فِي مَخْمَصَةٍ﴾ قَالَ قَتَادَةُ: أَيْ: فِي مَجَاعَةٍ؛ رَجَعَ إِلَى الْكَلَامِ الْأَوَّلِ مِنْ قَوْلِهِ: ﴿حُرِّمَتْ عَلَيْكُمُ الْمَيْتَةُ وَالدَّمُ﴾ إِلَى آخِرِ الْآيَةِ ﴿غَيْرَ مُتَجَانِفٍ لإثم﴾ أَي: يتعمده. سُورَة الْمَائِدَة من الْآيَة (٤) إِلَى الْآيَة (٥).
