"[Marked] by your Lord." Al-Hasan said: It has a mark, for it is not from the stones of this world; rather, it is from the stones of punishment.
He said: And that mark upon each stone is like a seal. "And it is not far from the wrongdoers"—he says: And it is not far from the wrongdoers among your nation, O Muhammad, that He might pelt them with it.
Yahya [narrated] from Hammam ibn Yahya, from al-Qasim ibn Abd al-Wahid, from Abd Allah ibn Muhammad ibn Aqil, from Jabir ibn Abd Allah, who said:
The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "The thing I fear most for my nation is the deed of the people of Lot."
﴿مسومة عِنْد رَبك﴾ قَالَ الْحَسَنُ: عَلَيْهَا سَيْمًا؛ أَنَّهَا لَيْسَتْ مِنْ حِجَارَةِ الدُّنْيَا، وَأَنَّهَا مِنْ حِجَارَةِ الْعَذَابِ.
قَالَ: وَتِلْكَ السِّيمَا عَلَى الْحَجَرِ مِنْهَا مِثْلَ الْخَاتَمِ ﴿وَمَا هِيَ مِنَ الظَّالِمِينَ بِبَعِيد﴾ يَقُولُ: وَمَا هِيَ مِنْ ظَالِمِي أُمَّتِكَ يَا مُحَمَّدُ بِبَعِيدٍ أَنْ يَحْصُبَهُمْ بِهَا.
يحيى: عَنْ هَمَّامِ بْنِ يحيى، عَنِ الْقَاسِمِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الْوَاحِدِ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عُقَيْلٍ، عَنِ جَابِرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ قَالَ:
قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ: " إِنَّ أَكْثَرَ مَا أَتَخَوَّفُ عَلَى أُمَّتِي عَمَلُ قَوْمِ لوط ".
