"Send him with us tomorrow, that he may graze and play." Muhammad said: The people of Medina read it as 'yarta'' (that he may graze) with a ya and a kasrah under the 'ayn, and 'yal'ab' (and play) also with a ya. The meaning is: it is as if they said, he shall graze his livestock and play in a state of ease and happiness.
﴿أَرْسِلْهُ مَعَنَا غَدًا يَرْتَعْ وَيَلْعَبْ﴾ قَالَ محمدٌ: قَرَأَهُ أَهْلُ الْمَدِينَةِ ﴿يرتع﴾ بِالْيَاءِ وَكسر الْعين، ﴿ويلعب﴾ بِالْيَاءِ أَيْضًا؛ الْمَعْنَى: كَأَنَّهُمْ قَالُوا: يَرْعَى مَاشِيَتَهُ وَيَلْعَبُ فِي جَمْعِ السعَة وَالسُّرُور.
