Then He made an exception, saying: "Except those who believe and do righteous deeds."
Qatada said: Allah excepted the poets from the believers; among them is Hassan ibn Thabit.
ثُمَّ اسْتَثْنَى فَقَالَ: ﴿إِلا الَّذِينَ آمنُوا وَعمِلُوا الصَّالِحَات﴾.
قَالَ قَتَادَةُ: اسْتَثْنَى اللَّهُ الشُّعَرَاءَ مِنَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ؛ مِنْهُمْ: حَسَّانُ بْنُ ثَابِتٍ،
