"An ant said, 'O ants, enter your dwellings; [that] Solomon and his soldiers not crush you,'" God said: "while they do not perceive" that Solomon understands their speech.
Muhammad said: The term 'ants' is used here in the manner of the speech of humans when they speak, just as humans speak.
﴿قَالَت نملة يَا أَيهَا النَّمْلُ ادْخُلُوا مَسَاكِنَكُمْ لَا يَحْطِمَنَّكُمْ سُلَيْمَان وَجُنُوده﴾ قَالَ اللَّهُ: ﴿وَهُمْ لَا يَشْعُرُونَ﴾ أَنَّ سُلَيْمَانَ يَفْهَمُ كَلَامَهُمْ.
قَالَ مُحَمَّد: لفظ النَّمْل أجري هَاهُنَا مَجْرَى لَفْظِ الْآدَمِيِّينَ حِينَ نَطَقَ؛ كَمَا ينْطق الآدميون.
