a land in Yemen. Ibn Abbas said: The Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, was asked about Sheba, and he said: He was a man.
Muhammad said: Abu Ubayd mentioned that Al-Hasan used to read "min Saba'in" (from Sheba) in the accusative case without nunation (ghayr mujrat). He said: Its interpretation is that it is a feminine name for a woman or a tribe, while those who apply nunation (yujri) hold that it is the name of a man.
وَقَتَادَةَ: أَرْضٌ بِالْيَمَنِ، وَقَالَ ابْنُ عَبَّاس: " سُئِلَ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ عليه السلام عَنْ سَبَإٍ، فَقَالَ: هُوَ رَجَلٌ ".
قَالَ مُحَمَّدٌ: ذَكَرَ أَبُو عُبَيْدٍ؛ أَنَّ الْحَسَنَ كَانَ يَقْرَأُ: ﴿مِنْ سَبَأَ﴾ مَنْصُوبَةً غَيْرَ مُجْرَاةٍ: قَالَ: وَتَفْسِيرُهَا: اسْمٌ مُؤَنَّثٌ لِامْرَأَةٍ أَوْ قَبِيلَةٍ، وَالَّذِي يُجْرِي يَذْهَبُ إِلَى أَنَّهُ اسْمُ رَجُلٍ.
