"He said, 'Alter for her her throne.'" Qatadah said: Its alteration means that it should be added to and subtracted from. "'We will see whether she will be guided,'" meaning: whether she will recognize it, "'or whether she will be of those who are not guided,'" meaning: or whether she will not recognize it.
﴿قَالَ نكروا لَهَا عرشها﴾ قَالَ قَتَادَةُ: وَتَنْكِيرُهُ: أَنْ يُزَادَ فِيهِ، وَيُنْقَصَ مِنْهُ ﴿نَنْظُرْ أَتَهْتَدِي﴾ أَيْ: أَتَعْرِفُهُ ﴿أَمْ تَكُونُ مِنَ الَّذين لَا يَهْتَدُونَ﴾ أَي: أم لَا تعرفه
