"It was said to her, 'Enter the palace' (al-sarh)." Al-Kalbi's interpretation is: The jinn sought permission from Sulayman and said, 'Allow us to build a sarh for her,' meaning a palace of glass, so that we may see how her intellect is. The jinn feared that Sulayman would marry her, and she would disclose to him things that the jinn had been hiding from him.

Yahya said: It reached me that one of her parents was a jinn, and for that reason, they feared that regarding her.

Al-Kalbi said: So he gave them permission, and they went to a body of water and diverted it into an open field. Then, they populated it with an abundance of fish and frogs. Then, they built a covering over it made of glass, and then they built around it a smooth palace (sarhan mumarradan) made of glass; and 'al-mumarrad' means the smooth.
