Muhammad said: As for the one who reads "inna" (verily) with the kasra (vowel i) on the alif, the meaning is: Then see what was the end of their affair. Then He explained it, saying: "We destroyed them."
قَالَ مُحَمَّدٌ: مَنْ قَرَأَ (إِنَّا) بِكَسْرِ الْأَلِفِ، فَالْمَعْنَى: فَانْظُرْ أَيُّ شَيْءٍ كَانَ عَاقِبَةُ أَمْرِهِمْ، ثُمَّ فَسَّرَ فَقَالَ: ﴿أَنَّا دَمَّرْنَاهُمْ﴾.
