“And whoever brings an evil deed”—meaning: polytheism— “then their faces shall be cast into the Fire,” meaning: they shall be thrown into it upon their faces. “Are you being recompensed except for what you used to do?” in the world; this shall be said to them in the Hereafter.
﴿وَمن جَاءَ بِالسَّيِّئَةِ﴾ يَعْنِي: الشِّرْكَ ﴿فَكُبَّتْ وُجُوهُهُمْ فِي النَّار﴾ أَيْ: أُلْقُوا فِيهَا عَلَى وُجُوهِهِمْ ﴿هَلْ تُجْزَوْنَ إِلا مَا كُنْتُمْ تَعْمَلُونَ﴾ فِي الدُّنْيَا؛ يُقَال لَهُم ذَلِك فِي الْآخِرَة
