"And We intend to bestow a favor upon those who were oppressed in the land," meaning the Children of Israel, "and make them leaders," Qatada said: meaning rulers in the land, "and make them the inheritors," meaning they would inherit the land after Pharaoh and his people. So, Allah did that for them.
﴿و﴾ نَحن ﴿نُرِيد أَنْ نَمُنَّ عَلَى الَّذِينَ اسْتُضْعِفُوا فِي الأَرْض﴾ يَعْنِي: بَنِي إِسْرَائِيلَ ﴿وَنَجْعَلَهُمْ أَئِمَّةً﴾ قَالَ قَتَادَةُ: أَيْ: وُلَاةً (فِي الأَرْض) (ل ٢٥٣) ﴿ونجعلهم الْوَارِثين﴾ أَي: يَرِثُونَ الْأَرْضِ بَعْدَ فِرْعَوْنَ وَقَوْمِهِ، فَفَعَلَ الله ذَلِك بهم
