"And the wife of Pharaoh said: (He is) a comfort of the eye for me and for you." She said this to Pharaoh. Qatadah said: Her compassion was cast upon him the moment she saw him. "Do not kill him; perhaps he will benefit us, or we may adopt him as a son," while they were unaware that their destruction would be at his hands and in his time.
﴿وَقَالَت امْرَأَة فِرْعَوْن قُرَّة عين لي وَلَك﴾ تَقُولُهُ لِفِرْعَوْنَ. قَالَ قَتَادَةُ: أُلْقِيَتْ عَلَيْهِ رَحْمَتُهَا حِينَ أَبْصَرَتْهُ ﴿لَا تَقْتُلُوهُ عَسَى أَنْ يَنْفَعَنَا أَوْ نَتَّخِذَهُ وَلَدًا وَهُمْ لَا يَشْعُرُونَ﴾ أَنَّ هَلَاكَهُمْ عَلَى يَدَيْهِ وَفِي زَمَانه
