"And the heart of the mother of Moses became void." Qatadah's interpretation: Meaning, void of everything except the remembrance of Moses; she would not remember anyone else. "She was about to disclose it," Qatadah said: to reveal that he was her son due to the intensity of her yearning. "Had We not strengthened her heart" with faith.
Muhammad said: Strengthening the heart is the inspiration of patience, and its fortification and empowerment.
﴿وَأَصْبَحَ فُؤَادُ أُمِّ مُوسَى فَارِغًا﴾ تَفْسِيرُ قَتَادَةَ: أَيْ: فَارِغًا مِنْ كُلِّ شَيْءٍ، غَيْرِ ذِكْرِ مُوسَى لَا تَذْكُرُ غَيْرَهُ ﴿إِنْ كَادَتْ لتبدي بِهِ﴾ قَالَ قَتَادَةُ: لِتُبَيِّنَ أَنَّهُ ابْنُهَا مِنْ شِدَّةِ وَجْدِهَا ﴿لَوْلا أَنْ ربطنا على قَلبهَا﴾ بِالْإِيمَانِ.
قَالَ مُحَمَّدٌ: الرَّبْطُ عَلَى الْقَلْبِ: إِلْهَامُ الصَّبْرِ وَتَشْدِيدُهُ وَتَقْوِيَتُهُ.
