‘But those who were given knowledge said,’ and they are the believers, to the polytheists, ‘Woe to you! The reward of Allah,’ meaning: Paradise, ‘is better,’ ‘and none are granted it,’ meaning: given it—that is, Paradise—‘except the patient,’ and they are the believers.
﴿وَقَالَ الَّذين أُوتُوا الْعلم﴾ وَهُمُ الْمُؤْمِنُونَ لِلْمُشْرِكِينَ ﴿وَيْلَكُمْ ثَوَابُ الله﴾ يَعْنِي: الْجنَّة ﴿خير﴾ ﴿وَلَا يلقاها﴾ يُعْطَاهَا؛ يَعْنِي: الْجَنَّةَ ﴿إِلا الصَّابِرُونَ﴾ وهم الْمُؤْمِنُونَ.
