"And when Our messengers came"—meaning the angels—"to Abraham with the good news"—of Isaac—"they said, 'Indeed, we are going to destroy the people of this town,'" meaning the town of Lot, "'indeed, its people have been wrongdoers,'" meaning polytheists.
﴿وَلما أَن جَاءَت رسلنَا﴾ يَعْنِي: الْمَلَائِكَة ﴿إِبْرَاهِيم بالبشرى﴾ بِإِسْحَاقَ ﴿قَالُوا إِنَّا مُهْلِكُو أَهْلِ هَذِه الْقرْيَة﴾ يَعْنُونَ: قَرْيَةَ لُوْطٍ ﴿إِنَّ أَهْلَهَا كَانُوا ظالمين﴾ مُشْرِكين
