"And Qārūn"—meaning: And We destroyed Qārūn. "And Pharaoh and Hāmān, and they could not escape [Our punishment]"—meaning: they could not outstrip Us, such that We would be unable to reach them and punish them.
﴿وَقَارُون﴾ أَيْ: وَأَهْلَكْنَا قَارُونَ ﴿وَفِرْعَوْنَ وَهَامَانَ وَمَا كَانُوا سابقين﴾ أَيْ: يَسْبِقُونَنَا؛ حَتَّى لَا نَقْدِرَ عَلَيْهِم فنعذبهم
