"[He brings the living out of the dead and brings the dead out of the living]" Al-Hasan's interpretation is: He brings the believer out of the disbeliever, and He brings the disbeliever out of the believer. "[And He brings the earth to life after its death]" He brings it to life with vegetation after it had been dry. "[And thus shall you be brought out]" meaning: the Resurrection. Allah will send down rain that is like the semen of men, so that their bodies and flesh will sprout from it, just as the vegetation sprouts from the earth.
Surah Ar-Rum, from verse 20 to verse 24.
﴿يُخْرِجُ الْحَيَّ مِنَ الْمَيِّتِ وَيُخْرِجُ الْمَيِّت من الْحَيّ﴾ تَفْسِيرُ الْحَسَنِ: يُخْرِجُ الْمُؤْمِنَ مِنَ الْكَافِرِ، وَيُخْرِجُ الْكَافِرَ مِنَ الْمُؤْمِنِ ﴿ويحيي الأَرْض بعد مَوتهَا﴾ يُحْيِيهَا بِالنَّبَاتِ بَعْدَ إِذْ كَانَتْ يَابِسَةً. ﴿وَكَذَلِكَ تخرجُونَ﴾ يَعْنِي: الْبَعْثَ؛ يُرْسِلُ اللَّهُ مَطَرًا مَنِيًا كَمَنِيِّ الرِّجَالِ، فَتَنْبُتُ بِهِ جُسْمَانُهُمْ وَلُحْمَانُهُمْ؛ كَمَا تَنْبُتُ الْأَرْضُ الثرى.
