{We will surely test them}, meaning: we will try them, {as to which of them is best in deed}, meaning: most obedient to Allah.
﴿لنبلونهم﴾ لنختبرهم ﴿أَيهمْ أحسن عملا﴾ أَي: أطوع لله.
