﴿وَلما رأى الْمُؤْمِنُونَ الْأَحْزَاب﴾ [And when the believers saw the confederates], meaning: Abu Sufyan and his companions who had banded together against Allah and His Messenger. ﴿قَالُوا هَذَا مَا وَعَدَنَا اللَّهُ وَرَسُولُهُ﴾ [They said: This is what Allah and His Messenger had promised us]. Allah had revealed in Surat al-Baqarah: ﴿أَمْ حَسِبْتُمْ أَنْ تَدْخُلُوا الْجَنَّةَ﴾ [Or do you think that you will enter Paradise], up to His saying: ﴿أَلا إِنَّ نصر الله قريب﴾ [Unquestionably, the help of Allah is near]. When this verse was revealed, the companions of the Prophet, peace be upon him, said: "We have not yet experienced this." Then, on the Day of the Confederates (al-Ahzab), Allah revealed: ﴿وَلَمَّا رَأَى الْمُؤْمِنُونَ الأَحْزَابَ﴾ [And when the believers saw the confederates] up to His saying: ﴿إِيمَانًا وتسليما﴾ [faith and submission], meaning: belief and submission to the command of Allah.
Surat al-Ahzab from (verse 23 - verse 24).
﴿وَلما رأى الْمُؤْمِنُونَ الْأَحْزَاب﴾ يَعْنِي: أَبَا سُفْيَانَ وَأَصْحَابَهُ تَحَازَبُوا عَلَى اللَّهِ وَرَسُولِهِ ﴿قَالُوا هَذَا مَا وَعَدَنَا اللَّهُ وَرَسُولُهُ﴾ كَانَ أَنْزَلَ اللَّهُ فِي سُورَةِ الْبَقَرَة: ﴿أَمْ حَسِبْتُمْ أَنْ تَدْخُلُوا الْجَنَّةَ﴾ إِلَى قَوْلِهِ: ﴿أَلا إِنَّ نصر الله قريب﴾ فَلَمَّا نَزَلَتْ هَذِهِ الْآيَةُ قَالَ أَصْحَاب النَّبِي عليه السلام: مَا أَصَابَنَا هَذَا بَعْدُ؛ فَلَمَّا كَانَ يَوْمُ الْأَحْزَابِ أَنْزَلَ اللَّهُ: ﴿وَلَمَّا رَأَى الْمُؤْمِنُونَ الأَحْزَابَ﴾ إِلَى قَوْله: ﴿إِيمَانًا وتسليما﴾ يَعْنِي: تَصْدِيقًا وَتَسْلِيمًا لِأَمْرِ اللَّهِ.
