"And you see the sun, when it rises, inclining" [meaning] it deviates "away from their cave to the right, and when it sets, it passes them by" [meaning] it leaves them "to the left." al-Hasan said: It says: The sun does not enter their cave "while they are in a wide space thereof" [meaning] in an open area of the cave.
Muhammad said: (Tazawaru) the root of it is (tatazawaru), so the ta was assimilated into the zay. And (taqriduhum), the root of qard is cutting and separating, and the reading is (taqriduhum) with a kasra on the ra, and there is another dialect (taqruduhum) with a damma. "He whom God guides is the rightly guided, and he whom He sends astray, you will not find for him a protecting friend, a guide" [meaning] a companion who guides him.
Muhammad said: (Al-muhtadi) appears in the Mushaf in this place without a ya, while it appears in al-A'raf with a ya. The omission of the ya is permissible in nouns, and does not
﴿وَتَرَى الشَّمْسَ إِذَا طَلَعَتْ تَزَاوَرُ﴾ أَيْ: تَمِيلُ ﴿عَنْ كَهْفِهِمْ ذَاتَ الْيَمين وَإِذا غربت تقرضهم﴾ أَي: تتركهم ﴿ذَات الشمَال﴾ قَالَ الْحَسَنُ: يَقُولُ: لَا تَدْخُلُ الشَّمْسُ كَهْفَهُمْ ﴿وَهُمْ فِي فَجْوَةٍ مِنْهُ﴾ أَيْ: فِي فَضَاءٍ مِنَ الْكَهْفِ.
قَالَ مُحَمَّد: (تزاور) الْأَصْلُ فِيهِ: (تَتَزَاوَرُ) فَأُدْغِمَتِ التَّاءُ فِي الزَّاي، و (تفرضهم) أَصْلُ الْقَرْضِ: الْقَطْعُ وَالتَّفْرِقَةُ، وَالْقِرَاءَةُ (تقرضهم) بِكَسْرِ الرَّاءِ وَفِيهِ لُغَةٌ أُخْرَى (تَقْرُضُهُمْ) بِالضَّمِّ. ﴿مَنْ يَهْدِ اللَّهُ فَهُوَ الْمُهْتَدِ وَمَنْ يُضْلِلْ فَلَنْ تَجِد لَهُ وليا مرشدا﴾ أَيْ: صَاحِبًا يُرْشِدُهُ.
قَالَ مُحَمَّدٌ: (المهتد) وَقَعَتْ فِي الْمُصْحَفِ فِي هَذَا الْمَوْضِعِ بِغَيْرِ يَاءٍ، وَوَقَعَتْ فِي الْأَعْرَافِ بِالْيَاءِ، وَحَذْفُ الْيَاءِ جَائِزٌ فِي الْأَسْمَاءِ، وَلَا
