Muhammad said: Regarding the one who recites (an) with the fathah, the meaning is "because." (Khalisatan) is in the accusative case (mansub) as a circumstantial qualifier (hal). "We have already known what We have made obligatory upon them," meaning: We have revealed concerning their wives [that a woman shall not be married except with a guardian, witnesses, and a dowry, and a man shall not marry more than four] "and what their right hands possess." He says: A man may marry four if he wishes, and he may have sexual relations with as many of what his right hand possesses as he wishes, "in order that there may be no blame upon you," meaning: no sin.
