Allah says: "And he entered his garden while he was unjust to himself," meaning: through his shirk (polytheism). "He said, 'I do not think,'" meaning: I do not believe with certainty, "'that this will ever perish,'" meaning: come to an end. Al-Hasan's interpretation is: He does not mean that it will not perish and disappear; rather, he means that he will live in it until he has consumed it throughout his life.
قَالَ اللَّهُ: ﴿وَدَخَلَ جَنَّتَهُ وَهُوَ ظَالِم لنَفسِهِ﴾ يَعْنِي: بِشِرْكِهِ ﴿قَالَ مَا أَظُنُّ﴾ أَيْ: مَا أُوْقِنُ ﴿أَنْ تَبِيدَ هَذِه أبدا﴾ أَيْ: تَفْنَى، تَفْسِيرُ الْحَسَنِ: لَيْسَ يَعْنِي: أَنَّهَا لَا تَفْنَى فَتَذْهَبْ، وَلَكِنَّهُ يَعْنِي: أَنَّهُ يَعِيشُ فِيهَا حَتَّى يأكلها حَيَاته
