a garden, praying. They approached him from behind, and Moses greeted him. Al-Khadir was unfamiliar with greetings in that place, so he raised his head and behold, it was Moses, and he recognized him. He said, 'And upon you be peace, O Prophet of the Children of Israel.' Moses said, 'And what made you know that I am the Prophet of the Children of Israel?' He said, 'The One who led you to me made me know that.' [Then] Moses said to him, 'May I follow you on the condition that you teach me from what you have been taught of sound judgment?' He said, 'Indeed, you will not be able to have patience with me.'
