"And as for him who believes and works righteousness, his reward is the best" (al-husna). Mujahid’s interpretation is: 'al-husna' is: 'There is no god but Allah,' and the 'reward' is Paradise.
Al-Suddi said: 'He will have the reward of the best' (al-husna); meaning: forgiveness.
Muhammad said: Yahya did not clarify how the recitation of al-Suddi was, though his interpretation indicates it.
﴿وَأَمَّا مَنْ آمَنَ وَعَمِلَ صَالِحًا فَلهُ جَزَاء الْحسنى﴾ تَفْسِيرُ مُجَاهِدٍ: الْحُسْنَى هِيَ: لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللَّهُ، وَالْجَزَاءُ: الْجَنَّةُ.
وَقَالَ السُّدِّيُّ: فَلَهُ جَزَاءً الْحُسْنَى؛ يَعْنِي: الْعَفْوَ.
قَالَ مُحَمَّدٌ: لَمْ يُبَيِّنْ يَحْيَى كَيْفَ كَانَتْ قِرَاءَةُ السُّدِّيُّ وَالَّذِي يَدُلُّ عَلَيْهِ تَفْسِيرُهُ
