(Whoever desires the immediate) — and he is the polytheist who desires nothing but this worldly life, not believing in the Hereafter — (We hasten for him therein) to His saying: (rejected/downtrodden), meaning: distanced from the mercy of Allah.
﴿من كَانَ يُرِيد العاجلة﴾ وَهُوَ الْمُشْرِكُ لَا يُرِيدُ إِلَّا الدُّنْيَا، لَا يُؤْمِنُ بِالْآخِرَةِ ﴿عَجَّلْنَا لَهُ﴾ إِلَى قَوْله: ﴿مَدْحُورًا﴾ أَيْ: مُبْعَدًا مِنْ رَحْمَةِ اللَّهِ
