[He] said: "Thus says your Lord; it is easy for Me," to create him, "and We shall make him a sign for the people and a mercy from Us," meaning: for those who accept his religion, "and it was a matter destined," meaning: Jesus was a matter from Allah written in the Preserved Tablet that it would come to pass. Gabriel then took the opening of her garment with his finger and breathed into it, and it reached her womb, and she became pregnant. Al-Hasan said: She carried him for nine months in her womb.
﴿قَالَ كَذَلِكَ قَالَ رَبُّكَ هُوَ عَليّ هَين﴾ أَنْ أَخْلُقَهُ ﴿وَلِنَجْعَلَهُ آيَةً لِلنَّاسِ وَرَحْمَة منا﴾ أَيْ: لِمَنْ قَبِلَ دِينَهُ ﴿وَكَانَ أمرا مقضيا﴾ يَعْنِي: كَانَ عِيسَى أَمْرًا مِنَ اللَّهِ مَكْتُوبًا فِي اللَّوْحِ الْمَحْفُوظِ أَنَّهُ يَكُونُ. فَأَخَذَ جِبْرِيلُ جَيْبَهَا بِأُصْبَعِهِ فَنَفَخَ فِيهِ، فَصَارَ إِلَى بَطْنِهَا، فَحَمَلَتْ. قَالَ الْحَسَنُ: حَمَلَتْهُ تِسْعَة أشهر فِي بَطنهَا
