"That you put him into the chest," meaning: place him in it. "Then throw him into the river," meaning: into the sea. "So the river will cast him onto the bank; there will take him an enemy to Me and an enemy to him," meaning: Pharaoh. "And I bestowed upon you love from Me," Qatada said: Allah cast love from Him upon him, so they loved him when they saw him. "And that you may be brought up under My eye," meaning: that you may be nurtured under My sight.
﴿أَن اقذفيه فِي التابوت﴾ أَيْ: اجْعَلِيهِ ﴿فَاقْذِفِيهِ فِي الْيَمِّ﴾ فِي الْبَحْرِ ﴿فَلْيُلْقِهِ الْيَمُّ بِالسَّاحِلِ يَأْخُذْهُ عَدُوٌّ لِي وَعَدُوٌّ لَهُ﴾ يَعْنِي: فِرْعَوْنَ ﴿وَأَلْقَيْتُ عَلَيْكَ مَحَبَّةً مني﴾ قَالَ قَتَادَةُ: أَلْقَى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ مَحَبَّةً مِنْهُ، فَأَحَبُّوهُ حِينَ رَأَوْهُ ﴿ولتصنع على عَيْني﴾ أَي: ولتغذى بمرأى مني.
