[He] said, 'The knowledge thereof is with my Lord in a Record. My Lord neither errs nor forgets.' (i.e., He does not lose it [folio 208b] such that it disappears, nor does He forget what is in it. This is the interpretation of al-Hasan.
Muhammad said: Whoever reads 'la yadillu' with a fathah on the ya' (y), it is from the saying: 'dalaltu al-shay' adilluhu' (I misplaced the thing), when you place it in a location where you do not know where it is.
And whoever reads 'la yudillu' with a dammah on the ya' (y), it is from the saying: 'adlaltu al-shay'' (I lost the thing), and the meaning of 'adlaltuhu' is: I caused it to be lost.)
