"And do not behave insolently therein," meaning: Do not disobey Allah regarding the manna and the quails, as they had been commanded not to take any of it for the next day, and the interpretation of this has already passed. "Lest My anger should descend upon you," meaning: Lest it should become necessary. "And he upon whom My anger descends has certainly fallen" into the Fire.
﴿وَلَا تطغوا فِيهِ﴾ أَيْ: لَا تَعْصُوا اللَّهَ فِي رَفْعِ الْمَنِّ وَالسَّلْوَى، وَكَانُوا أُمِرُوا أَلَا يَأْخُذُوا مِنْهُ لِغَدٍ، وَقَدْ مَضَى تَفْسِيرُ هَذَا ﴿فَيَحِلَّ عَلَيْكُمْ غَضَبي﴾ أَي: (ل ٢٠٩) فَيَجِبَ ﴿وَمَنْ يَحْلِلْ عَلَيْهِ غَضَبِي فقد هوى﴾ فِي النَّار.
