"And they say, 'Why does he not bring us a sign from his Lord?'" Allah said: "Has there not come to them a clear proof?" Muhammad [ibn Abi Zamanin] said: Meaning: signs. "Of what was in the former scriptures," meaning: the Torah and the Gospel.
﴿وَقَالُوا لَوْلَا﴾ هَلَّا ﴿يَأْتِينَا بِآيَةٍ مِنْ رَبِّهِ﴾ قَالَ الله: ﴿أَو لم تأتهم بَيِّنَة﴾ قَالَ مُحَمَّدٌ: يَعْنِي: آيَاتٍ ﴿مَا فِي الصُّحُف الأولى﴾ يَعْنِي: التَّوْرَاة وَالْإِنْجِيل
