"And how many a city have We shattered," meaning We destroyed, "which was unjust," meaning polytheistic, which refers to its inhabitants, "and We brought forth," meaning We created.
(﴿وَكم قصمنا﴾ أَهْلَكْنَا ﴿مِنْ قَرْيَةٍ كَانَتْ ظَالِمَةً﴾ مُشركَة) يَعْنِي: أَهلهَا ﴿وأنشأنا﴾ خلقنَا.
