"Or have they taken gods from the earth who raise the dead?"—meaning: who bring the dead to life. This is phrased as a question, meaning: have they taken gods who do not bring the dead to life?
Muhammad said: It is said, 'Allah brought the dead to life (anshara Allah al-mawta), so they were brought back to life (fanasharu).'
﴿أَمِ اتَّخَذُوا آلِهَةً مِنَ الأَرْضِ هم ينشرون﴾ أَيْ: يُحْيُونَ الْمَوْتَى؛ (هَذَا عَلَى الِاسْتِفْهَام؛ أَي: أَنهم قَدِ اتَّخَذُوا آلِهَةً لَا يُحْيُونَ الْمَوْتَى).
قَالَ مُحَمَّدٌ: يُقَالُ: أَنْشَرَ الله الْمَوْتَى فنشروا.
