"The seven heavens glorify Him," meaning: and those within them, "and the earth and whoever is in it" among the believers and those who glorify Him from among the creation. "And there is not a thing except that it exalts [Allah] by His praise, but you do not understand their way of glorifying." Al-Hasan used to say: "The mountain glorifies [Allah]; so if something is cut from it, the severed part does not glorify [Him], but the main body does. Likewise, the tree: what is cut from it does not glorify [Him], yet it [the tree itself] glorifies [Him]." "But you do not understand their way of glorifying. Indeed, He is ever Forbearing and Forgiving" regarding His creation, for He does not hasten [to punish] as some of them hasten upon others, and He is "Forgiving" to them if they repent and reconsider their actions.

٢ - ! (يسبح لَهُ السَّمَوَات السَّبع﴾ يَعْنِي: وَمِنْ فِيهِنَّ ﴿وَالأَرْضُ وَمَنْ فِيهِنَّ﴾ مِنَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ وَمَنْ يُسَبِّحُ لَهُ مِنَ الْخَلْقِ ﴿وَإِنْ مِنْ شَيْءٍ إِلا يُسَبِّحُ بِحَمْدِهِ وَلَكِنْ لَا تفقهون تسبيحهم﴾ كَانَ الْحَسَنُ يَقُولُ: إِنَّ الْجَبَلَ يُسَبِّحُ؛ فَإِذَا قُطِعَ مِنْهُ شَيْءٌ لَمْ يُسَبِّحِ الْمَقْطُوعُ وَيُسَبِّحُ الْأَصْلُ، وَكَذَلِكَ الشَّجَرَةُ مَا قُطِعَ مِنْهَا لَمْ يُسَبِّحْ، وَتُسَبِّحُ هِيَ، وَلَكِنْ لَا تَفْقَهُونَ تَسْبِيحَهُمْ ﴿إِنَّهُ كَانَ حَلِيمًا غَفُورًا﴾ عَن خلقه فَلَا يعجل (ل ١٨٥) كَعَجَلَةِ بَعْضِهِمْ عَلَى بَعْضٍ (غَفُورًا) لَهُمْ إِذَا تَابُوا وَرَاجَعُوا أَنْفُسَهُمْ.
