"Fie upon you and upon that which you worship besides Allah!"
Muhammad said: "Uffin" means: an expression of harsh speech and annoyance. It is also said: its root signifies foulness; so it is as if he said: 'Foulness be upon you.'
﴿أُفٍّ لَكُمْ وَلِمَا تَعْبُدُونَ مِنْ دون الله﴾.
قَالَ مُحَمَّد: (أُفٍّ) مَعْنَاهُ: التَّغْلِيظُ فِي الْقَوْلُ وَالتَبَرُّمُ، وَقِيلَ: إِنَّ أَصْلَهَا النَّتَنُ؛ فَكَأَنَّهُ قَالَ: نَتنًا لكم.
